Q: 2002 Camaro????
if i were to buy a used 2002 camaro off a dealer ship how much am i looking at price wise??

A: For a 2002 V-6 Camaro 8,000 – 11,000 with around 70,000 miles
For a 2002 V-8 Camaro z28 9,000 – 13,000 with around 70,000 miles
For a 2002 V-8 Camaro SS 35Th anniversary 11,000 – 16,000 with around 70,000 miles

All are estimates from Kelly blue book and all are coupes no convertables

Q: Why does a 2002 camaro z28 beat a 2010 camaro v6 in fuel economy and performance?
The new v6 camaro gets 26 mpg on the highway, 300 hp, and a 0-60 time of 6.1. A 2002 camaro z28 gets 26 mpg highway, 305 hp, and a 0-60 time of 5.3.

A: First off, despite being rated at 305hp, they actually make 350hp. Second, those numbers are ESTIMATES. A lot of variables decide the fuel economy of vehicles.

Q: How do I remove a driveplate inspection cover on a 2002 camaro?
I’m trying to change the oil pan gasket on a 2002 v6 camaro and my Chilton book tells me to remove the driveplate inspection cover but i have no clue what it is.

A: The cover is just behind the engine on the bottom side. It is basically the lower section of the bellhousing, right behind the oil pan.

Q: Could you modify a 2002 Camaro SS to beat a brand new GT500 mustang?
Im a fan of Camaro, i like mustang too, but im wondering if i bought a 2002 camaro ss for cheap (Since the economy is so bad) could i supercharge it or do something to it to make gt500’s s**** itself? My friend has one, i’d definitly like to show it up lol.

A: as far as the 2002s go the ss is actually a collectors edition so they are pretty expensive..go with the z28 the difference is only 15 hp which comes mostly from the different exhaust which you will probably change anyways. but ya you put a pro charger, some heads, exhaust, and intake and that shit will rip it..the ls1 is amazing.. btw i have a 2002 z28 for sale let me know

Q: how do I take off and replace my window motor on a 2002 chevy camaro?
I am trying to replace the window motor on my 2002 chevy camaro on the drivers side. any instructions, tips, or any suggestions on places I can look for help will be well appreciated.

A: Does the Camaro use the ’scissors’ system or a belt in a track?
I have had to replace window motors in my Olds Cutlass Ciera and it was the belt in a track system. A repair manual won’t be any help, it can’t say anything about windows because they are a ‘hazard’ (glass). Unless I know what kind of system it is, this is the best I can tell you.

First you will need to first take off the door panel. You will see that the window apparatus is very hard to get to; this is a tougher job than one would expect. You will need to detach the two brackets that hold the window up from the window by loosening bolts on the brackets. Then you will need to detach the window motor from the inside of the door (and anything else holding the apparatus in there) by drilling out the bolts with a power drill. You will then have to find a way to remove the entire assembly from the inside of the door. This may take a while, but it is, in fact, possible. Once you’ve got the assembly out, replace the motor itself and repeat the process in reverse!

Hope this information is relevant. Like I said, I have never specifically done Camaro windows, but I think this should be a basic outline of what you need to do. I was never able to find any printed information about mine when I did them.
Good luck!

Q: what engine size does the 1994 – 2002 chevrolet camaro have?
what size engine does the 1994 – 2002 camaro have?

A: what apoo said…

…and sayit…chevy doesn’t make a 5.2L lol…some people need to stay off of these boards…

Q: how much does a 2002 Chevrolet camaro SS hatchback cost ?
I wan toget a 2002 chevrolet camaro hatchback in good shape, good milage, 4 or 5 seater, and all that other stuff.

A: alright, first off, this is a question you should research yourself. second, camaros don’t come in 5 seaters bud. and what is so special about a 2002? 2001’s are just as good, so are 2000’s and 1999’s (98’s have electrical problems).

Q: Where could I find a replacement door for my 2002 camaro?
I got hit in the driver side of my camaro but I can’t find a replacement anywhere.

A: Junkyard
Craigslist
Local car forums almost ALWAYS have someone parting out something or know someone who knows someone that has one.
Ebay
Dealership, but be ready to pay alot more then anywhere else.

Q: 2002 Camaro 35th anniversary start problems?
Heres the situation,

My friend has an 02 Camaro 35th ann. The engine does not want to start. You can turn the key to the “start” position, and the starter engages, but it just cranks, over and over. We checked the fuel rails, and there was fuel with pressure. I myself am a Ford guy, but i try to help whoever i can. any ideas? my guess would be the ignition is turned off by the ECU…idk, I am as lost as he is. it has a brand new batterey too.

A: make sure the spark plugs are sparking
and of course that its on park

Q: Whats the difference between 2002 Camaro SS and Camaro Z28?
I’m interested in purchasing so I looked up the specs and they seem to be the same it’s probably just minor stuff but please share any info.

A: You’re correct.

I most meaningful ways, the SS trim level already includes much of the Z28. Additional differences include suspension and handling differences, different wheel sizes and options, and other, mostly cosmetic, badging and interior trim fitments.

The best thing you can do is avoid “faux” cosmetics like hood scoops that don’t feed a carburetor or supercharger or a spoiler that doesn’t provide any beneficial downforce like are often plastered on the Z28’s (and regrettably some Mustangs to this very day).

Nothing screams “poser” louder than a driving around with bunch of plastic stuck to a car that serves no purpose and usually actually creates additional wind noise and resistance . Clean, functional, and performance-enhancing is the only kind of “sexy” that’s worth having, especially if you have to pay extra for it.

Best of luck. I hope this helps.

Q: How much would it cost to drop a v8 in a 2002 Camaro?
I have a moderate knowledge about cars but never have done anything major like this
I’m not sure right now what all I could use from the v6 that’s in there but I know I’d need, for one, the block, new suspension etc
For everything I’d need how expensive would it be and where should I buy it from
Should I just get a relatively good shape donor car from a salvage yard or buy like an ls1

A: You will save ALOT of money getting a LT1 instead. With the money your going to pay for the LS1 you could buy a LT1 and make it more powerful than a LS1.

The LS1 only has 30-40 hp more than the LT1 (That’s not a big deal)

You can get 30-40 hp from a few bolt-ons

I don’t know how true it is but they say LT1′a produce alittle more torque

Q: How much horsepower does a 2002 Camaro Z28 that runs 12.5 in the 1/4 mile have?
The speed at the 1/4 mile mark is 115 mph. The car has regular street tires. It is mostly stock, with a Vortec supercharger.

How much hp does this car have?

A: If the car is otherwise stock it will have right around 400.LS1’s run strong in the 1/4.If the car your talking about gets some decent tires and some gears it will run reasonably faster then a 12.5.

Q: replacing speakers in 2002 chevrolet camaro?
Hi, I have a base edition 2002 Camaro with the 4 speaker system. The radio has the built in CD player, and thats it! I would love to upgrade the speakers, but I hate the look of aftermarket radios. My question is, can you replace the speakers and leave the radio alone? Do you have to replace all the wires and all of that mess or can you just pop in new speakers? What speakers would you recommend. Nothing extreme, but nothing cheap THANKS!

A: you can change them with little problem may need to splice them together

Q: What exhaust tips should i get for my 2002 Camaro?
iam putting 3.5 inch pipes on and i need to find nice looking tips to put on

A: try and get twin tips Dual exaust…. Biggest Possible!!!
My goodness it would look nice. OR side pipes would look badass coming out just in front of the rear wheels.
Camaros desearve a more muscle look.

Q: What is the best headlights I can get for a 2002 Camaro?
I have to replace the entire headlight since I hit two boars at night on the road. I don’t want that to happen again, so what are the very best headlights available (fixture, bulb, anything) and where can I get them?
I don’t mind spending a good amount of money on them, I figure they’ll be cheaper then replacing my front end again.
I also mean any brands that anyone might prefer.
This is to replace the normal headlights

A: You could get the xenon HID lights, they’re very expensive. They throw more light than halogen bulbs. You could find them online I would guess, maybe JC Whitney.

Q: 2001 camaro?
i have a bad window motor in my 2001 chevy camaro. i have purchased a replacement and i have taken off my door panel, but now i can’t seem to figure out how to pull out the old motor. if anyone knows how to remove it please let me know asap. my car is all apart in my garage! thanks

A: the regulator has to be unbolted from the door and the motor is riveted to it but it all has to come out to drill out the rivits that hold the motor to the regulator and when you put it back together use bolts and nuts to hold the motor on.

Q: How much would a nice flowmaster exaust for a 2001 camaro cost?
I getting a 2001 camaro soon and i would just like to get a a good guess on how much it would cost..

A: To get a shop to do it will probibly cost around $500-$1000 depending on the shop, what you get, and how long it takes them. I found that with my car (a 1975 Mustang) that even a glass pack on dual exhaust sounds good.

Hope that helps

Good luck!

Q: why does my 2001 camaro turn signals dont work in the front?
I have a 2001 chevy camaro v6 and my turn signals don’t work well. I have to move the turn signal up and down to give it a flash that i want to turn right or left. If I try to turn the signal to make a right, it doesnt blink or make any noise. Also my front signals don’t work. The only time it makes the flashing signal without me forcing it is when i turn on the emergency lights. The front parking lights or turnsignal dont work either when I do that. The only flashing is coming from my rear turn signals. I tried to replace the turn signal flasher but could not reach or find it. I am wondering if that is the problem.

A: chcek the fuse thats all i could think of if they work with the emergency flashers

Q: What kind of license plate frames work for the front of a 2001 Chevrolet Camaro?
I am moving to New York State and need to register my 2001 Camaro there. NYS requires both front and rear license plates, whereas my old state only required rear license plates. I need to get a bracket/frame or whatever for the front, but can’t seem to find one. Anyone’s advice who has already done this would be welcomed.

A: have you been to autozone or anyother parts store… shouldnt need anything but a few screws or maybe the plugs even walmart has them you shoul dbe able to find them any where

Q: Is there an easy way to change the fuel pump on a 2001 camaro?
I was told you had to drop the exhaust to change the fuel pump on this car. the way the exhaust is run you cant just drop it you have to cut it or drop the rearend. If anyone knows of an easier way to change the fuel pump on a 2001 camaro please let me know…………

A: Try posting this on:

http://www.CamaroPoint.com

They helped me with my question.

Q: Which exhaust to pick between 2 for my 2001 camaro ss?
I recently asked what kind of exhaust i should put on my 2001 camaro ss that isn’t too expensive but has a low aggressive sound. I found out that corsa or borla would be the best pick and glasspacks and flowmasters are not good. So I’m going with either Corsa or Borla. Which one is cheaper? And which one will give me a better sound and good performance? Thanks!

A: Flowmasters….regardless of what rumors you may have heard.

Q: Does anyone know where the high beam switch is in a 2001 Chevy Camaro?
Ok people when i turn on my Camaro the high beams are on idk if its like that or not but their always on.. Does anyone know the exact spot where it is? Its a 2001 Chevy Camaro V6 base.

A: zx9, what are you talking about? He wants to know how to turn them on/off. :shakes head:

As someone else stated, the stalk that you use your blinkers for is also your high beam switch, pull the stalk towards you to flick the high beams on/off.

Q: How to remove the shift knob on a 2001 camaro z28?
I want to remove the shift knob of my camaro but it’s soo difficult and hard. How do I properly remove it of a manual transmittion z28 ? And were to buy one…… Please help …. Please give detailed instructions thanks

A: The procedure is very simple. At the base of the knob there is a small slit cut into the plastic (I can’t remember front or rear, you will find it). Use a small screwdriver and pry out the horseshoe retaining clip that is pressed into the slit. The knob should pull free. The factory knob is a dealership only item. The knob is not very expensive. Peace.

Q: Where can I buy the hood ornament thing for my 2001 camaro?
A while back, my 01′ camaro either had the signature red white and blue striped ornament that is just below the hood stolen, or it just fell off cause of how old and crappy it is, either is perfectly plausible. Anyway, I was wondering if there was any place I could order one from, and if I do by any chance get a hold of one, would I be able to securely attach it where it belongs myself?

A: You can buy online. Visit: http://www.gaari.com/?s=hood+ornament

All the best

Q: I am tryin to buy a 2001 v6 camaro how fast are the really?
i am 16 tryin to buy a 2001 v6 camaro and make it kinda fast but keeping it affordable what kind of parts can i put on it? can anyone tell me what a stock v6 camaro runs the 1/4 or the 1/2 mile? thanks

A: RK Sport makes a supercharger kit for the 3.8 Camaro…that’s your best bet for bang for the buck. The V6 Camaro is rated at 200 horsepower and I would suspect around a 15-16 second 1/4 mile. With a cam change, exhaust (headers and cat back), and the supercharger you might be able to get to 280-300 hp, at that point you would be looking at 13-14 second 1/4 mile times. Honestly, though, a V6 Camaro is never going to be as fast as you want…and if the budget allows it, it would be cheaper to get a Z28, Formula Firebird, or Trans Am than it would be to modify a V6 to beat them.

Q: How much should I sell my 2001 Camaro for?
Around 115k miles. Has had a new clutch put in recently. Small dent on the side the size of a hand. V6. No power windows or locks. Manual transmission.

A: ask $2,300, take best offer over $1,700

Q: What is the best audio system advice you can give me about getting the most out of my 2001 Camaro?

A: Your car has a good design for bass (hatchback). I like to go with a single set of component speakers up front and a single sub in the rear – simple, clean, great sounding, and plenty loud for most people who want good sound. If you are trying to pound, well buy big amps and fit as many subs as you can in the back.

One more thing, get a head unit that has a high output voltage from the RCA jacks if you are going to run amps. High would be 4 volts or more. Many come this way now, as long as you don’t buy the cheapest. This will give you a clarity and volume advantage, trust me. Oh, and get an alarm! Otherwise your system may not last long.

Q: Are there any special tools required to remove the spark plug boots on a 2001 camaro with the 3.8V6?
I have noticed that the spark plug boots have a metal heat shield. Do I need a special plier to remove these boots?

A: Snap-On sells a spark plug wire remover tool. It’s like a long pair of pliers with a plastic coated rounded end that goes over the boot so that you can squeeze and twist the boot at the same time

Q: What aftermarket in-dash nav/dvd player fits perfectly in a 2001 Camaro?
How hard would it be to install the Pioneer AVIC-F90BT in it?

A: not possible to fit a 2 din headunit in a 1.5 din opening without an extensive dash modification so your limited to the 1 din or 1.5 din size stereo size i have a 94 camaro with the older version avic-n3 with the current version being the avic-n5 i would recomend that if you want a high quality gps system

Q: Whats a good Vortech Supercharger for a 2001 V6 Camaro?
What would be a good Vortech Supercharger or any supercharger for a 2001 V6 Camaro?

A: there are supercharger kits for 3.4 .3.8 but look at pontaic and buick as they were factory and lots of stuuf already made but these engines go east and west so a little adopting needs to be done you will also need to fab your own exhaust pieices look at pontaic engine internal mods need to be done as well stock commpresion is to high over heat and blown head gaskets the cyl heads wiil fit pontaic also have bigger inject spary you will need them and crank pulley etc with factory supercharger intercooler not easy no room go to salvege yard turbo chargeing is possable but all home made stuff all i bought was turbo waste gate and intercooler all exhaust was fab in my shop aswell as brackets and exhaust did 3 turbo alll different all still running driven all the time run about 7 psi much more and have problems with gas loys of ping 7 psi is feelable in throttle responce go looking and email me if any moore ? if you have 2r4 trans you will need trans mods

Q: 2000 Camaro?
When the “check gages” for low fuel sign pops up on a V6 Camaro, does anyone know how many miles exactly you can go without running out of gas??

A: IT Varies on the gas miles so if the Camaro gives you 24 miles a gallon thats for far it can go, I guess its only have.It does mess up your engine if you do it often

Q: How do i drive faster then the governor limit on my 2000 Camaro?
I have a 2000 camaro t-top, V6 (unfortunately not V8) i want to know how can i drive faster then the limit of the governor. What is the fastest this car will go with the governor?
Are there any special ways i can press the gas so it overrides the governor?
I’ve been told i could get a processor, but i have know idea about mechanics… where could i buy one of these- please list some brands, types and names.
I heard processors were difficult to install is this true?

Aside from the governor how what addictions can i add to my camaro to make it faster?

Thank you so much

A: the only way to bypass the governer is to remove it. so you’ll want to get a new cpu. can’t think of the company I want to name that has them, but if you do a google search you should be able to find some.

other things that will make your car faster
taking weight out of it will make it accelerate faster
everything else to increase speed would be some type of engine mod. like a new exhaust system.

Q: Where can i get a 2000 camaro center console?
Recently, my 2000 (2 door coupe) camaro’s center console surrounding the radio fell off. The clips that attached it around the radio and to the dashboard, are broken. I know i can just glue it but i would want to know how much is a new one and where i can get a new one is. Help please?

A: ebay..

Q: What brand of headers are legal in California for a 2000 Camaro?
I have a 2000 Camaro SS (5.7L V8) that has unmarked illegal long tube headers. I live in California and most of the headers I have found aren’t legal in CA, including the SLP headers. Can anyone help me find some headers that are legal in California for my Camaro? Thanks!

A: Theres a few

Edelbrock 65732
(even list the CARB # for them CARB EO Number App D-215-58)

PaceSetter Performance 70-2255
Application Notes Headers have provisions for all sensors and pollution control equipment

JBA Headers 1808SJS
Bolt on extra horsepower and torque with 50-state smog legal JBA Cat4ward headers

Q: What upgrades should i get for my 2000 Camaro v6?
I have a 2000 camaro v6 and its pretty slow. What can i get to upgrade it without getting a v8?

A: nothing,, embrace it for what it is. Try a cold air intake and a chip,, but they don’t even make a suitable cam upgrade for those engines. Theirs always nitrous,, you just keep replacing engines every 3000 miles.

Q: I need a supercharger for a 2000 v6 Camaro, where do I find one at?
Hey guys, I’m having a hard time finding a supercharger for the v6 camaro, I keep on seeing them for the v8 5.6liters. If you can tell me a few places if any to find one I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks guys! Me: 2000 Camaro, 3.8L v6.

A: No offense, but if it is speed and power you are looking for you should have bought the V8. This type of modification can get pretty involved and expensive if you do find a supercharger to fit. Hope you know what you are getting into. Good Luck

Q: What can I do to make 2000 Camaro SS wheels fit my 1996 Camaro RS?
I bought a set of 2000 Camaro SS wheels thinking they would fit right on my 1996 Camaro RS. The axle hole on the SS wheels is 1/16th of an inch too small to fit. Is there an easy way to maybe get it machined that much bigger safely? I have seen the wheels on other Camaros like mine so i was just wondering if anyone knew.

A: try putting a spacer on the back of the wheel. If they don’t fit yours. I’m sure they would fit mine.

Q: How can i make my 2000 camaro V6 (3800) faster?
I just got a 2000 camaro with a v6 a month ago. Last owner did a piss-poor job on the maintenance. So i want to make as badass as I afford-ably can. I already installed a K&N filter charger, gave it a tuned up ;spark plugs; wires; fuel filter; PVC valve; oil filter; transmission fluid and filter, and installed a new water pump from autozone . Can someone give some tips what i can do to give some performance into it?

A: Give it new bigger intake manifolds.

Q: What can i do to make my 2000 camaro faster, stronger, and meaner?
i have a 2000 camaro V6 200HP. What can I do to make the car faster, stronger, and give it that mean muscle car sound.

A: Sell it.

Put the money you make from the sale towards one with a V8.

Then, you will at least have something to work with.

The V6 in the Camaro was OK if you wanted to use it as a grocery getter. But it doesn’t have much available in the way of performance parts.

Q: Are SS and z28 emblems interchangeable on a 2000 Camaro?
I have a 2000 z28 Camaro that I am changing into a SS, are the emblems interchangeable?
First im doing just the appearance portion, hood, emblems and mats. Then im going to change over the performance portion.

A: the guy above me is wrong dude. chevy brought back the ss in 1996. but anyways, yeah the badges are just stuck on with 3m tape just clean the tape off the paint before you put the new badges on.

Q: 2000 camaro stalled and now will not stay running?
I have a 2000 Camaro and the other day it stalled at a stop sign and would not re-start. I pulled it home and when I got there is would start briefly but will not continue to run. And yes it had gas in it. It does not seem electrical. It turns over fine, and when it does start it runs well. What could be my problem here?

A: alternator?

Q: I’m deciding on buying a car but not sure what to get. What do you think is better: 1993 RX7 or a 2000 Camaro.?
The 2000 camaro SS is a lot cheaper than a 93 twin turbo rx7 and not that hard to find. What I want to know is what is the best vehicle out of the two. Which one has the best gas mileage and performance. Are rotary engines reliable? Also if you know any other good performance vehicle that I might consider please let me know. No fords please, I don’t like mustangs at all.

A: First of all rotary engines aren’t as good on gas and the turbos i it are going to require premium gas another expense.

The camaro is also newer so there will be less problems generally but i don’t know hoe reliable Mazda’s are.

Id go for the camaro over any car any day

Q: how to turn off traction control and abs on a 2000 camaro?
i need some help on how to turn off traction control and anti lock brakes on a 2000 v6 camaro
there is no button i checked every where

A: A button in your glove compartment turns off traction control on most vehicles. Earlier models have a button right beside your shifter.

ABS can’t and should never be turned off. I understand turning off traction control but ABS is a positive no matter which way you look at it.

You would need to flash the computer to turn off ABS but as stated and what everybody else will tell you… it is the best thing to ever happen to cars.

Q: Hey!! I need Detailed Instructions on How to Replace the Universal-Joints in a 2000 Camaro Z28!!?
I have read the Repair Manual, and have asked people at the Advanced AutoParts store, and I think that I need some REAL Help, with this!!

I have a 2000 Camaro Z28, and I have Purchased new Heavy Duty U-V joints (Bruteforce).

I have never replaced Universal-Joints before, so I am not understanding how to do this Correctly.

I would Realy like some Instructions from Someone who has actually Replaced U-V Joints in a 93-02 Z28!!

People have told me their versions of how to replace them, and I get different responses, some inwich I don’t understand.

I have replaced my Rear-End Fluid with NO Problem!!
Yet, I don’t exactly Understand how to replace the U-V Joints!!

I would Appriciate answers from Experienced People!!!!
Website Info would be most Helpful!!

(And no short, stupid remarks as Answers!! I hate that!!)
I pushed on the Caps of 1 of my New Bruteforce U-V Joints. New grease squirted out of all 4 of the Bearings. Is this Bad?!? Or is this Supposed to happen?!?

The grease leaked out of the new Seals. I haven’t installed it, yet. I just pressed on the Caps, to see how well the new bearings spin!!

A: first off if you don’t have access to torches you will not be able to do them yourself. if you look at where the UV joints cap is is in the driveshaft you sould see 2 little holes that have what looks like a piece of white plastic sticking out, what it is, is plastic thats been injected into the drive shaft to hold the UV joints in.
#1.you have to use torches to heat the drive shaft where this plastic is located as you heat the shaft you should notice the plastic start to squirt out once no more squirts out you’re now ready to remove the UV joints.
#2.find a socket that will fit on the cap of the UV joint and be able to fit through the driveshaft ear holes. support the driveshaft on a bench or something allowing th e UV joint to hang off, place the socket on the cap of the old UV joint and hammer on socket until oppisite cap pops out of the driveshaft, you should now be able to remove the old UV joint.
#3.inside the 2 holes of the driveshaft the UV joint endcaps came out of you will see 2 grooves this is where the plastic you melted out came from use a pick to remove any leftover plastic from the grooves.
#4.place 1 of the new caps in the driveshaft ears hole and press in be very careful not to lose any of the needle bearings in it.now place the UV joint in the cap you just pressed in an install 2nd cap on oppisite side again BE CAREFUL not to allows bearings in cap to move once the UV joint is installed and the caps pressed into place you will see a grove in each of the UV joints bearing caps these groves are where you install the new C clips that came with the new UV joints once you’ve done one you repeat the same process over for the 2nd UV joint.
Well thats the best I can explain it in words it’s kinda hard to explain I hope it makes sense to you or helps you in some way if you are still confused and feeling unsure you may just want to bring the UV joints and driveshaft to a garage and have them do it it should take them more then a 1/2 hour and not cost too much since you already have the shaft out and parts supplied, and it might save you ahuge headache. Well whatever you decide good luck hope all turns out well.

Q: Would there be a difference in price on car insurance on 1996 camaro/2000 astro?
I’m 16 and I currently have a 2000 chevy astro van but i want to find out if insurance will go up if i get a 1996 chevy camaro v6.

A: No insurance of 1996 chevy is less than 2000 chevy Bec. in General insurance cost of utility item get depreciate every year . If 1996 & 2000 Is Manufacturing year

Q: How many catalytic converters does my V6 1999 Camaro have?
I have the V6 3.8 1999 Chevy Camaro and I wanted to know how many catalytic converters does my car have?

I think one, but Im not sure.

A: There is just one after the Y pipe.

Q: Does the 1999 Camaro have VIN code stickers on the hood or not?
Hello, I have a 1999 Camaro RS. I bought it used from a dealer at 95k miles and it now has 109k miles. I noticed that there are VIN stickers/labels on the doors and on the dash, but when I open the hood there is no sticker.

Does this car/some cars come with no sticker under the hood?

A: The vin code stickers are never put on the hood. they are usually on a strip of metal under the wind shield on the drivers side. If the vin is on the hood it is stamped on.

Q: my 1999 camaro sometimes the guages wont work right or the window might freeze could it be the control module?
this guy is trying to sell this 1999 camaro ss to me. he said once in a while the radio and window will get messed up but he braught it into a shop to do tests and they could not find what was wrong and one shop said they bipassed it and said it was the control module could this be or what else could it be and sometimes the guages might mess up but only rarely. i need help thanks!

A: yes it could be but more likely …intermittent ground failure

Q: How can i get some extra power out of my 1999 camaro V6?
I have a 1999 camaro V6 and would like to get a little more power without spending too much money. I am not very handy with this stuff so it will have to be something easy to install. Thank You

A: You can make a 3.8 pretty fast. Try searching around these websites. Easiest to install though is going to be intake, and exhaust. Register to these forums, and ask questions, and read around. You’ll find what your looking for.

Q: What kind of differential do I have on my V6 1999 Camaro?
Hello, I have a 1999 V6 Camaro that I bought used with 95k on it. It now has 112k and runs well. What kind of differential does it have? Does it have posi, SLP LSD, open, rear axle, what?

Also whatever it has what does it mean: one wheel spins, good traction, better/worse for power slides, etc……

A: The car came from Chevy stock with a 2.73 rear axle & an open differential, … BUT there was a LSD optional, & an axle upgrade to around a 3.27 ratio. So, can’t tell without looking – There should be a metal tag on the axle that will tell you what’s inside.

Q: Will a 2000 TRANS AM LEFT TAIL LIGHT FIREBIRD LS1 LT1 FORMULA fit my 1999 Camaro?
Hello, will that fit my 1999 Camaro, I liked that black look, any suggestions?

A: Although the shapes are similar they will most like not fit. This usually is because of the wiring of the cars. I also noticed that the Trans AM has a circular shape vs the cut of oval of the Camaro.

Q: What is a good cheap place to buy an engine rebuild kit for a 1999 chevy camaro?
Looking for a cheap place to purchase a rebuild kit for a 1999 chevy camaro 3.8 auto. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks
thanks guys…i did check out summit I found one for 439.00. I will check out the other sites for sure. thanks

A: Your best bet is either PAW Catalog, Summit has some nice kits cheap too, or even JEGS. You get a complete kit with camshaft, pistons, lifters, timing chain and gears, all the gaskets, bearings, the works for about 300.00.

Q: can i take parts off a 1999 camaro v6 and put on my 1994 camaro v6?
i own a 1994 camaro v6 and my friend owns a 1999 camaro v6, hers broke down and she said i can take anything i want off of it for my car. i need things such as the rear axel, starter, window motor ect. im just wondering if the parts are compatible. thanks for yalls help

A: 5 years would be a difference the 2.2 engines are the same but.the transmissions will be different.

Q: What suspension parts to change in a 1999 Camaro?
Hello, I bought a used Chevy Camaro V6 at 95k miles from a used dealer and it now has 112k miles on it. The car has always sat pretty low (probably the dumb owner before me had it lowered even more…….) but now it seems that it’s not doing that well over bumps and such.

What do I need to change : shocks and struts and where are they located (rear/front)?

A: we recommend changing shocks/struts at anything over 75K miles. If the shocks have been worn for a long time, chances are the springs are shot, too. I believe the older Camaros had shocks all the way around.

Q: does a 1999 chevy camaro z28 have an air injection tube in the engine bay?
i just installed a k&n cold air intake in my camaro but im not sure if it has an air injection tube. so my question is does my car, a 1999 chevy camaro z28 automatic have air injection?? please only answer this question if you are 110% sure!! thanks. much appreciated.

A: Im assuming you bought the FIPK (http://www.hotheadperformance.com/my_files/images/k_n_fipk_57_3022.jpg.)

On your 99, you do not need too hook up the AIR module to the filter. It is only required on 00-02’s. If you look at a stock 99 airbox to a stock 02 airbox, you will see that theres a tube running out of the side of the airbox on the 02. This is what the instructions are talking about. Since you dont have/need that hookup on your setup, just go without it. Just make sure you plug up the hole on the intake elbow as too not let any dirty air get past the filter element.

Q: Where is a Body control module located in a 1999 camaro? and How do you install it?
When it is installed do you just have to turn on you key to program it and how long do u leave the key on?

A: Under the right side of the IP near the blower motor
You will have to have the dealer program it, with the car attached

Q: What kind of Amp is in a 1999 Camaro SS?
I’m looking to upgrade the speaker system in my convertible since I’ve seem to have blown the front speakers. The car has the stock Monsoon deck in it still. I’ve been told that the amp is under the front driver seat. I would like to know if it is a 4 cross over type. Can anyone verify this pls. I would like to get the best 4 speakers I can get for my 400 to 500 dollar budget. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

A: If you want more pound I would go for the Polk dB component series. I’ve found they have the highest rms wattage for the price. 100 watts rms per speaker with a price of ~$165 for a pair with external crossovers. They also come with a external tweeter to make it sound just right and if you don’t want to mount it separately from the speakers, then you can mount it onto the grill of the larger speaker.

Hint: Go onto crutchfield.com and go to outfit my car and enter all the information it asks you and it will come up with a huge list of things that will fit.

Q: How much does it cost to get new break pads and labor for a 1999 camaro?
They are startin to squeek and i wanted to know how much it costs to get new ones.

A: First off- Just because they squeak doesn’t mean they need to be changed. Second- Call your local mechanic and ask him.

Q: is the chevy camaro coupe 1999 a really good car?
i am about to get a camaro and i have a great deal on 1999 camaro coupe is it a good choice and what are the reviews on it minus the Z28 being better?

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carquotes.fateback.com

Q: My 1999 Camaro has a steady humming that gets louder and higher pitched as i go faster?
What is it?
How can I fix it?
How much will it cost?
The problem is not in the engine. The noise is coming somewhere from the back end.

A: your brake pads might be worn down or rotors need to be turned ive done it a thousand times im sure and that sounds very accurate and is very cheap
just take your rotors off take them to a oreilly’s and get them turned and get some new brake pads that should do it
very cheap for a care anyway

Q: 1998 camaro v6 automatic the service engine light soon started blinking and car shaking?
I have a 1998 camaro v6 automatic the service engine light soon has been one but this morning the service engine soon light started blinking and the car started shaking real bad, what could be wrong with my car? I didn’t continue to drive it because as soon as it did that I parked it. If freaked me out because it was blinking .
I have a 1998 camaro v6 automatic the service engine light soon has been one but this morning the service engine soon light started blinking and the car started shaking real bad, what could be wrong with my car? I didn’t continue to drive it because as soon as it did that I parked it. I had already changed the spark plugs and wires along with a pcv valve because before it started doing that it said the check engine light was on because of a misfire on cylinder 2.

A: My question is how long have you been driving the car with the light on before it started blinking and acting up. you know you could have taken it in to auto zone for a free diagnostics test. Well anyways try checking out you spark plug wires to see if there Still in contact and or try checking all the electrical plugs making sure they are all connected. Sorry but that’s all i can think off off the top of my head.

Q: does anyone know where I can get more information on converting a 1998 camaro from aV6 to a V8?
I have a 1998 camaro 3.8 that I am going to start converting into a 5.7 does anyone know where i can look up information such as wiring harness, powertrain information schematics and other helpfull information that will help me in doing this.

A: http://www.worldwidecamaroclub.com/ Camaro enthusiasts here. Might be easier to sell your v6 car and buy a v8 car. But if you want a challenge it can be done.

Q: How can I boost my horsepower for a 1998 Chevy Camaro?
I have a 1998 Camaro with a 3.8L v6 and its a manual. I wanted to know what I could do to it to make it faster and have alot more horsepower and I don’t really know that much about upgrading cars so I am basically looking for somewhere to start. By the way it does have 183,xxx miles does anyone have any clue about how much longer it has left and how much it will cost to rebuild an engine? an it isn’t smoking.

A: Your engine could easily go to over 200,000 miles if you take care of it. To do a good job overhauling the engine with you doing most of the wrenching, you’re looking at $1,000 to $1,500 (valve job plus parts, block cleaning, cylinder honing, new bearings, freeze plugs and rings, new pistons, new oil pump, gaskets and seals, polish and balance the crankshaft, new lifters, rockers and cam, gaskets, and misc.). You can buy a brand new engine from the factory (it’s called a Crate Engine) for about the same price and it comes with a warranty.

If you want alot more ‘reliable’ horsepower, you’ll need to go to a small block 5.0 liter V8. Your Camaro is a little heavy for that V6.

The good news is that you CAN get alot more horsepower, even an insane amount of horsepower, out of your current engine by getting better breathing in and out (K&N air cleaner, headers, free flow exhaust system AND custom engine computer programming. HOWEVER, this has 3 drawbacks. First, your mileage will go down about 30% (more power = more gas). Second, the more horsepower demanded from an engine, the more wear / less reliablity it has. Third, considering the mileage on your motor, it’s going to need a good complete rebuild first.

The bottom line is, anyway you go, to get reliable horsepower, it’s going to cost you at least $1,000.

Additional Info: Don’t try blowers (superchargers/turbochargers) or NOS (nitrous oxide systems) unless your engine is in top condition and you reprogram the computer.

Q: 1998 Camaro Thermostat I have to change it any pictures?
I have a 1998 v6 camaro that i have to change the thermostat. anyone has any engine pics of it i dont know where it is.

A: dont need much info just follow top radiator hose back to top of motor remove hose remove two bolts lift off housing clean or scrape off old gasket and replace about as easy as you can get just type into search box
how to replace thermostat chevy
how to replace thermostat 1998 Camaro
how to replace thermostat video

not much to it cost like 12 bucks wil need a new gasket about 3 bucks and will or might need coolant and a tube of Silicone replace it same way it comes out add a small amount of Silicone tighten it al back up replace hose crank motor fil radiator check for leaks maybe a hour or two depending on beer breaks

Q: 1998 camaro?
92000 miles 5 speed asking price 5900 which i think is a little much. how much do you think i could get it down to. and also will the car have any chance to making to 150000 miles thanks

A: I had two different Cavaliers. When I got rid of those they both had 260,000 miles. Only tires and oil changes.

Q: What is this part of the car called 1998 camaro?
It’s by the gas tank I know the front is called a fender but I need to know the part thats in back of the car by where the gas tank is, rear fender? Its on a 1998 camaro

A: Rear fender or also called a quarter panel.

Q: What Are The Most Cost-Effective Performance Parts For A 1998 Camaro?
I have a ‘98 Camaro 3.8L V6 and i want to know the most cost effective way(s) to increase its HP and Torque output. The basic mods i was looking at were a SLP cold air intake, Flowmaster exhaust system, a SLP cooling fan, and a Hypertech Max Energy Power Programmer (which claims gains of up to 57HP ). Any other parts or ideas you might suggest?

A: unless you’re having problems with it overheating, the aftermarket fan isn’t necessary with the level of mods you’re doing. nitrous gives great bang-for-the-buck, but you must be careful with it!

Q: What would you think of me putting a giant Firebird decal on a 1998 Camaro?
I have a 1999 Camaro. I really like those big winged Firebird logos/decals on the hoods from the old days.

What would you think of me putting one of those on my F-body 1999 Camaro?

A: If you think nobody would notice, try it.
But I wouldn’t do it. If you really like the firebird decal, why didn’t you just buy the car instead of the camaro? I know it was not the price difference because I worked for a chevy-pontiac-gmc dealer in the 90’s.

Q: how to make my 1998 v6 camaro a little faster?
how to make my 1998 v6 camaro a little faster and not tons of money tips please?

A: Intake and exhuast, custom program the chip, weight reduction, Nitrous, Turbo/supercharger…

There are lots of ways. I have seen thirdgen v6 Camaros and Firebirds running 12sec 1/4s…

Q: i have a 1998 v6 camaro,i im going to change the rear shocks any advice?
I have a 1998 v6 camaro,i im going to change the rear shocks, i guess i put the car on jack stands and jack the side of the rear im working on to compress the spring? any tips please?

A: has struts,

Q: will a 3.8L engine from a 1994 Thunderbird fit in a 1998 Camaro?
i need to replace the engine in my 1998 Camaro and need to kno if a 3.8L engine from a1994 ThunderBird will fit?

A: Will if fit in the engine bay? Yes. Will it bolt up without spending a mountain of cash as well as dozens of hours fabrication time? NO!

Q: How much would it be to change the manual transmission to an automatic on a 1998 Camaro?
Is it a difficult process, how much should I expect to pay for this?

A: It can get pricey costing around $3,000.

Q: Can I use headlights from a 1998+ Camaro in my 1995 Camaro?
I want to use newer style headlights from a 98+ Camaro in my 95, will they fit?

A: Need to swap the whole nose/ and head light mont breacket.

Q: My 1998 camaro is sometimes hard to start?
fuel pressure is 43psi , I changed the pressure regulator. the car runs fine after starting , and starts fine most of the time. I get no codes. the fuel mileage seems to be a little low. I also changed the plugs, wires and fuel filter. The car most rececently started very hard when it was very cold.

A: Your Starter may be failing. I recently had a new battery installed in my van that has a 350ci motor because it seemed to be drawing my battery down to much and turning over slowly. The battery didn’t fix the problem.
I installed a new starter and it turned the motor over wicked fast and fired up quickly. Try a new starter. Good luck

Q: Will the loudmouth exhaust with adapter kit fit on my 1998 Camaro V6?
It says 99-02 on the website. What changed from 98 to 99 that wont allow it to work?

A: Engines could of changed-making for differant undesirable sounding exhaust. 2-chassis could be differant making it not fit correctly. 3-emissions could be differant and changing exhaust altered the emissions standards

Q: 1997 Camaro?
What do you guys think of a 1997 Camaro? Do you like the look/design? Here are some pics:
http://www.dragtimes.com/images/13486-1997-Chevrolet-Camaro.jpg

How does it compare to the Mustang–Corvette–Firebird??

There is a 1997 Camaro for sale in good condition for $3,200. I’m thinking about buying it. Does that sound like a reasonable price? The KBB value is around $5,000 with generic information (mileage, etc).

A: sure I’d do it if I didn’t have 3 kids. It’s like the mustang and the chevy version of the fire chicken, but the vette is way better.

Q: 1997 camaro?
my camaro has started cutting out when i go about 50 miles per hour. if you rev the engine when it reches 4000 rpm it cuts out- kinda like it is reving and letting off, but the gas is pressed the same. anyone got any ideas?

A: It sounds like a problem with the TPS throttle position sensor or the rev limiter which only allows the car to go so high on the rpm’s. Are there any check engine lights? If so go to your local Auto Zone and usually they will hook up a code scanner for free and tell you what might be causing the problem. Listen under the hood while the car is running and listen for a whistling noise. A vacuum line could be loose or broke. Good luck….

Q: Where to lift the engine on a 1997 Camaro?
I’m trying to lift an engine on a 1997 Camaro so I can replace the oil pan gasket. I have an engine hoist, but I’m not sure where to attach it, as I’ve never done this before. Any suggestions?

A: Not completely sure, but pretty sure you have to drop front crossmember and then engine can be removed from under car. Those engines are tucked in their and I would think that if you want to remove it from the top you would have to dissassemble the front of the car. Try removing the front crossmember, that might give you instant access to the oil pan.

Q: What is the loud bang i experience from the rear of my 1997 camaro when hitting a bump?
I recently purchased a 1997 camaro, with 106,000 miles on it. It is in really good condition. I test drove it and had my mechanic check it out before I bought it; he gave me the thumbs up. Now that i have been driving it for a couple of days, with passengers in the car, i have realized that when i go over bumps.. like the ones that you go over when leaving a gas station to get back on the road… i experience a loud bang from the rear of my car. Could this mean that the rear shocks or struts need to be replaced?

A: You can check out more FAQ’s just like this one @

<http://www.f-body.org/faq/4/index.htm >

Q: What’s that hollow clunking noise from the rear over bumps?

A: A clunk is most likely the rear springs which are “popping” over bumps. If you have squeak, it’s probably caused by the metal springs rubbing against their metal perches. In either case, a Technical Service Bulletin (#B005001) calls for the placement of rubber isolators at the bottom of the springs to act as cushion. You can probably do this yourself by wrapping some rubber hose around the bottom coil (down by the axle) of each spring.

Congrads on the new ride, enjoy!

Good luck!

Q: How do i run the power wire of my amp in a 1997 Camaro?
i just bought a 1997 camaro rs and i need to install my system. I know how to do everything, i just cant find where to run the power wire from my battery into my car. I dont want to run it through the door frame, so would i have to drill into my firewal? if so how hard is that? Or is there another place i could easily run it through?

A: It depends. i ran mine through the fender and, across the door frame. from what I understand if you want to do otherwise, you’d have to drill a hole in the firewall, yes. If so,i’d try and cut it so you can run all of the wires down the console, that’s what I ended up doing, besides the part where the console ends and the rear seats begin (about 2 inches) you can’t see them at all.

Q: how much is a good paintjob for a 1997 camaro?
i wanna get my 1997 silver camaro painted black. how much would a decent paint job cost?

A: This depends on a number of things.

First, what is the current condition of the body? A vehicle that requires little body work will cost less to paint. But if it has a number of dents, dings, or rust it will cost more to repair these areas before it can be painted.

It will cost more to have it painted black. This is because black will show any minor defect under the paint. So the bodywork must be perfect. It will take more time to get the car ready for paint.

Sounds like you are changing the color. This costs more than having the car painted the same color. This is because the door jams, under the hood, and inside the hatch must be painted to match the exterior. This costs more money. Also, the old paint will require an extra sealer coat to cover the old color.

And last. With a paint job, you definitely get what you pay for. Get a cheap paint job by a fly-by-night body shop and you won’t be satisfied. You are better off having the work done by a good reputable body shop. This will cost more.

As a very rough estimate, from $3000 to $5000 if the body is already in decent condition. Lots more if it has any significant amount of rust or body damage.

Q: How much would a 1997 camaro z28 would cost now a days?
im looking to buy me another camaro, because the one i have now is a 1996 v6 camaro, and i want something fast now, i want a 1997 because of the interior and the exterior, but mainly because the interior is updated in 1997 AND it still had the same look from the 93-97 camaro exterior which looks badass, even though i do like them LS1’s but the exterior aint that good looking.

A: depending on mileage, you can get one around 3-5 grand. the lt-1 is an very good motor, lots of torque

Q: Missing a part to a factory seat in a 1997 Camaro?
I am missing the knob part that causes the passenger side seat in my 1997 camaro coupe to fold down. The metal piece is hanging out and i can still use it to fold it down, but it is very sharp and i just need a replacement knob for it but no autopart places have one. Any ideas where to look now?

A: auto scrap yards get a lot of cameros but you have to be quick at catching them because they are one of the fastest vehicals that the parts get sold out of…. I have one and it’s a pain to do but, I enjoy the part of going out there and getting to take the part off myself sometimes for extra charge they will take it off for you if you don’t want to get a little dirty.

Q: What is the correct tire size for a 1997 chevy camaro z28?
Hi, i am a proud owner of a 1997 chevy camaro z28 30 year special anniversery edition. I dont have the owners manual anymore that came with the car and need to find out what the correct tire size is that should be on there.

A: the manual should tell you where the sticker for tires size/ pressure is

Q: What is the best way to turn an automatic 1997 Camaro into a standard/manual?
I’ve had my camaro for a few years now, and decided to strip it out, barebone. I also wanted to change it from an automatic to a standard, and I wanted to know the cheapest , most efficient, do-it myself way. I know you can buy a shift kit for a camaro, but is it possible to just go to a junk yard, find an f-body camaro and interchange the manual transmission? Any ideas, helpful hints and links will be amazing.

A: You’ll need to get a bell housing and drive shaft for a manual tranny, and the shift kit, as well as all the clutch parts, and maybe the cross member. It’s been a while, so you might want to do a search on it.

Q: About how much would the insurance for 16 year old driving a 1997 Chevrolet Camaro?
In Missouri about how much would car insurance be a 16 year old with good grades be for a 1997 chevy camaro, or a 1997 pontiac firebird. And also, what is the cheapest car for a 16 year old to insure?

Thanks

A: Its hard to tell you because it depends on a lot of factors, try this site

http://bestinsurance.notlong.com

here you can get quotes from different companies.

Q: How much would it cost to paint a 1997 camaro?
I bought a 97 camaro and the front driver side fender is cracked and the hood is rusting from the underside. I have to get a new hood and fender and i didnt know how much it would cost to repaint the car. The car is black if that matters.

A: actualy it depends on what kind of paint like matalic or gloss it depends

Q: 1997 Chevy Camaro rs is this a good car?Or does it have engine problems or transmision?
i was planning on buying a 1997 Chevy Camaro rs v6 107,265 mile Automatic transmision and i wanted to know if these car are any good i ask because where i’m from there rare cars you dont see them often i was told i was better off with a honda or toyota.

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.enacre.net

Q: What is the best way to make my 1997 camaro faster?
im looking to make my camaro faster..i have a few ideas but im looking for opinions..i want something that wont be really expensive..nor will be dangerous to my car.

it has a 230 2002 v6 engine.

A: Well there’s no substitute for cubic inches but you can do a few simpler things without changing the engine. You might not be thinking “faster” as in over-all top speed but faster as in “peel out”. A taller over-drive gear in the tranny would give you a higher top speed or changing the ring and pinion gears in the rear end would add to this top speed, too.

You can install a K&N air filter that is for this model engine as they allow the air to go through faster than a stock air filter. You can get a new chip or reprogram the one that’s in the car. This will change the timing and make it spunkier at lower speeds.
A less restrictive muffler or a dual exhaust system will let the exhaust flow out faster which means less horsepower wasted pushing out the waste gasses.

Just running a full synthetic oil adds 5 HP over a conventional motor oil. I like the store brand 10W30 synthetics. Using synthetic powersteering fluid and approved synthetic differential gear oils reduces friction as does keeping those U-joints on the driveshaft lubricated.

Your Chevy dealer has a catalog of high perfomance parts and other stuff for your car. You might add some flames to the sides just to make it look faster, too.

Drive safely or you’ll not live long enough to enjoy your ride.

Good Luck!

Q: How hard it is to perform a tune-up on a 1997 chevy camaro?
on the 1997 chevy camaro is there really two spark plugs under the car. if so do you neeb a special tool to reach them

A: There is nothing to it…go for it…

Find new and used 1996 Camaro at our automotive classifieds and Cars for Sale website RobbiesCarLot.com

Q: 1996 camaro?
When I take off it sometimes feels like it is “pulling”

I take off then it kinda feels like it is hitting bumps and sometimes takes longer than usual to get up to speed due to these unusual pulling bump feelings. What is this? Is this my transmission wearing out? The car has 153,000 miles on it, thx

A: u need to get the transmission looked at it sounds like the gears are skipping because they are getting ground down

Q: I want to tune up my 1996 camaro what should i do?
I have a 1996 camaro and i want ot tune it up i will like to engine swap it for more torque and horsepower but i don’t know the size i will also want it to handle two turbo’s or supercharger installed in it. Which engine is the best for that or is it better to build a whole new engine? What is better to put a supercharger or two turbo’s? Which is the best place to shop for all of this? Can some one please help.

A: take it to the shop to have them fix it

Q: how to fix a 1996 camaro park lamp short?
i have a electrical short in my 1996 camaro.the park lamp fuse keeps poping.can anyone help me find the problem?

A: It’s probably the socket. If not try to trace the wire back and look for bare spots.

Q: Does anyone know how to correctly bypass the coolant fan relay correctly on a 1996 Camaro Z28?
I believe it is relay #3 connections 3, and 4. I’m not sure how to wire it exactly. And yes the relay needs to be put back in or the fuse will blow and the check engine light comes on. Do I have to disconnect any wires or just run a hot wire and ground to the toggle switch? Someone with experience with a 1996 Z28 please help. The 96 wiring is different than the 95 wiring too, so i’m kinda stuck here.

A: I cut this section out of the article on the link below. You can use the link to get the scoop on the earlier models if, you need it.

Good luck!

Q: Can the fans be rigged to come on while the engine is not running?

On 1996 and later models, the wiring has changed and the above procedure will blow the fan fuse and turn on the Service Engine Light. So instead, in the underhood fuse box, remove the relay labeled ‘F’. Molded into the plastic on the box itself where the relay was is the letter ‘F’ as well as numbers for each connector. You want to connect the pin labeled ‘3′ with the pin labeled ‘4′. Note that this is a real feed, and bypasses the relay, so use at least 14 gauge wire. Current is 12A startup, and 8A running. Use a switch that can handle the load.

Solder the wires to the bottom of the fusebox, and put the switch just in front of the box where there already is a unused hole. Black wires and a black switch makes it looks neat. With this setup, you can turn the fan on whenever you want, even with the engine off. Don’t forget to put the relay back once you locate the correct connections. Without relay, a code is set and the Service Engine light is lit. If you happen to get a light, it won’t go away until you reset the computer. The easiest way to do that is to disconnect the negative battery cable for about 1 minute.

Q: where is my fuel reset switch on a 1996 chevy camaro?
I just went and spent $225.00 on a new fuel pump for my 1996 chevy camaro, but its still not getting fuel. can anyone please tell me where I can find the dang relay/reset fuel switch?
Thanks to all who answered this question, We found out what was wrong, It was a wire burnt into.

A: GM did not use a “reset” switch for fuel. Fords did.

The fuel pump relay is in the underhood bussed electrical center.

Q: what is the top speed of a 1994 an 1996 V6 camaro?
i was wondering the top speed of a V6 1994 an 1996 standard (manual) camaro?

A: With the standard 5 speed, you’ll be able to do over 110 (as high as the gauges go). In an auto they are limited electronically to 118, but with 5 speed you can probably get up to 125-130. The 94-95 had the 3.4L engine as the base model V6, 96 and up had the 3.8L engine as the base model V6. You should at least be able to hit 115 no problem, as I’ve been able to do this with mine (‘91); it’s automatic and has the even smaller 3.1L V6.

Q: how do i figure out if my motor on my 1996 camaro has been rebuilt or replaced in the past years?
i drive a 1996 camaro V6 with 277k miles on it and the service engine light is not onn yet and i owned this car for 1 year and 6 months now, and im wondering if their is a way to find out if the motor been REBUILT or REPLACED by the previos owners.

A: You can pull the heads off and if it has been rebuilt you will see the oversize number on the piston tops. Usually it will show STD(19), 30, 60, 90 thousands, as it means the amount of overbore the pistons are.

No other way to tell except to see if it has crosshatch pattern on cylinder walls as being recently rebuilt.

Q: Is there a way where I can convert my 1996 Camaro Headlights to the 99-02 head light style?
Do you know of a website where I can find the kit?
I do not want to convert the entire front end, just the headlights, is it possible?

A: It’s actually 98 and up. Get the front end off a 98-02 in a junk yard.

Q: is having red fog lights on a 1996 camaro illegal in north carolina?
because im planning to buy me red light bulbs for my fog lights, but i dont know if its illegal or not, somebody help me?

A: im in NC to and i would think so, red and blue lights are for emergency vehicles, only way you might could have red lights was if you were a volunteer fireman, best to ask a cop, state trooper would be best but any local or sheriff would be fine to ask to, you might could even just call your local PD and someone should be able to tell you

Q: What could be the cause of the AC to go out in a 1996 Camaro?
What are the causes for it to go out, and how much would it cost to fix it?

A: A/C is a speciality field and I could write several pages on what to check, but it would mean nothing to you if you don’t understand what I’m talking about. Expect to spend some money and if your lucky, you might find a free lance technician that needs a little extra spending money that will check it out for you for a good price. Best advice, do what you know and leave the other things to those that do know.

Q: How do you wire axillary lights for a 1996 camaro?
I want to hook them to accessory wires so they are not on 24/7

Thanks in advance

A: If you want to protect your wiring harness you will want an aux. lamp wiring kit. That allows the lamps to run directly off the battery and they are switched through a dash mounted switch and a relay. Prevents a lot of heartache later on. Feed for the relay can be taken of a accessory wire so that the lights swith off with the ignition. I ran my foglamps relay off a low beam power wire so that the fog lamps would shut off when I switched to high beams (that’s the law where I live).

Q: I need to find a diagram for the emissions system on a 1996 Camaro SS?
A website preferably. I need one with part names to be more specific. A Z28 diagram would be the same.

A: You can start you search here:

http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?UseCase=RG001&UserAction=processModel&Parameters=002

Good Luck

Q: I have a 1996 camaro v8 and I am experinacing a overheating problem. Fluid is coming up out of the overflow.?
I topped off the coolaint with the proper anti freeze required for this engine. Should I first try the tremostat and then have the waterpump checked?

A: Have you ever changed the thermostat on this car? If not, that’s probably your problem. If this is an LT1 V8, make sure not to get the optispark wet or you will end up changing the distributer cap too, and that’s expensive. I used a shop vac on my LT1. Pull the top hose off slowly, while sucking the anti-freeze out of the thermostat housing. Then loosen the housing and keep the vac going to make sure no anti-freeze spills while you pull the housing off. The water pump usually leaks through a small hole either on top or bottom to let you know they are going bad.

Find new and used 1995 Camaro at our automotive classifieds and Cars for Sale website RobbiesCarLot.com

Q: What is the reasonable cost for replacing ball joints in my 1995 Camaro?
I have a vibration in the front of my 1995 Camaro. I am thinking it is ball joints, bearings or struts. I have new tires on the car and they have been balanced twice. Need someone to help me narrow the problem down and let me know the estimated cost of repair.

A: Best bet would be to find a friend who can do that kind of work for you.
Ball joints for your car – well most cars have a upper and lower ball joint for each side. So you will need 4 all together. I just replaced mine on a Ford not long ago, they were like 40 bucks a piece i believe so they came to around 180 for parts. Then i paid a friend to put them on for me.
I forget what i paid him, but had i went to a shop to have it done it would have been 3-4 times as much.
Check out Auto zones website (or a similar auto parts store). You can look up the prices for ball joints for your car.
Really, a car that age if you havent replaced the struts and all that good stuff you might just want to go ahead and do alot of front end work. Replace the ball joints, struts, any tie rods or anything that look like they are going bad. Depending on your financial situation of course.

Q: My 1995 Camaro is blowing hot air instead of cold air with the air conditioning. What’s wrong?
I have a 3.4L V6 1995 Camaro. It was blowing hot air so i recharged it. I’m positive it’s charged fully and yet it still blows hot air. What else could be wrong?

A: Compressor , condenser, pressure switch, clutch, A/C controls, fuse, all or part could be bad. You have to realize since we cannot see your car in is impossible to diagnose properly. You could also have too much freon in the system.

Q: what can i do to add more power to my 1995 Camaro?
Ok i have a 1995 chevy camaro. it has the 3.4L in it. i have everything custom. including 2 huge turbos, flowmasters running true duel. im running 7 sec 1/4s and still getting beat my my friends camaro. im pushing 575hp. and 493lbs of torq.

A: Well, a cold air kit couldn’t hurt. It sounds tunerish but Nitrous does pack a punch. And, if you really wanted, go to your local airport, buy some 100 LL (Low Lead) and run that in your engine.

If those don’t work, try a crate engine. Those suckers are packed, however your wallet will suffer a little.

Q: 1995 camaro?
what do you think of them?

parents bought me one a few months ago & i dont know much abat cars.

Its in awesome shape and had been redone & seems nice, but idk, are they usually pretty good cars to have?

just tell me your thoughts on the car haha
also i there anywhere i could hind a hood ornament for one? hha

A: -I agree, they are sweet ride. I have a Silver 02 Camaro Z28 w/ T-Tops. The f-body cars rock!!!

I, also, agree w/ the generous parents part;)

Enjoy the sweet ride and take care of it and it will return the favor;) Here’s a few nice links you may be interested in.

Good luck!

Q: Hello anybody know what the average cost of a port &polish for a 1995 Camaro Z28 and the Benefits as in power?
Hello anybody know what the average cost of a port &polish for a 1995 Camaro Z28(LT1 350ci) and the Benefits such as a power increase and port & polish includes boring over right can i choose how much i wanna bore the engine over by?

A: A port and polish refers to reshaping and smoothing of the intake and exhaust passages (ports) in the cylinder heads and intake manifold. An overbore is not normally included in this procedure but if your engine needs to be rebuilt you might as well have it done when the heads are off anyway. Just have the compression tested before you take it apart. If you get even readings on all 8 holes in a normal range for your engine and the rods aren’t knocking don’t bother to rebuild it. While you can choose the amount of overbore to a point there are limitations dictated by the thickness of the cylinder walls. If your thinking re bore just to build more power forget it. Maximum overbore will increase your displacement by less than 10 cubic inches Which if you do the math it will net at best a 2 or 3 percent increase in displacement and a correspondingly small power increase. In short there are a lot more cost effective and less invasive ways of getting a power increase. Assuming your engine doesn’t need rebuilding I would recommend looking into external bolt on parts to boost your power. You will get more bang for the buck.

Q: How to adjust wipers on 1995 camaro.?
I have a 1995 Z28 camaro and i need to adjust my wipers so they touch all of the wind shield right now they leave a huge gap where i cant see when it rains.
I did buy new blades but they do teh same as the old ones.

A: You should buy new blades, not just the replacement rubber. They should come with the full length spoiler and tensioner to keep pressure on the blade as it travels across the windshield both horizontally and vertically.

Q: what cheap things could i do to my 1995 camaro to increase proformance?
i just baught a 1995 stock camaro and i was looking at making it much faster, first i was thinkning all new exhaust with headers and a cold air intake system, but iam not sure from there, any ideas??

A: Check out a place called Super Six Motorsports. They deal with v6 mustangs, camaros/firebirds, and grand prixs. The website has different power packages for your 3.4liter including heads, intakes, and cams. Ask for a guy named Tom Yentzer. He is the v6 guru there and has substantial knowledge to help you wake up your 6er.

Oh and don’t listen to the crap that all the v8 guys give you. You can make a v6 fast. I have a 2000 black mustang 5 spd with long tube headers, 2.5″ inch h-pipe exhaust and cat-back, 42% udps, and a 93 octane tune and I will hand a 98 gt’s ass and hang really well with the newer v8 mustangs.

Q: Why does my 1995 Camaro w/ manual transmission buck when starting out in low gears?
I have a 1995 Camaro with a V-6 and a manual transmission. When I put the car into 1st gear or switch into 2nd gear and I hit the accelerator after letting out the clutch, the car tends to want to buck or jump instead of smoothly accelerationg. It acts like something is loose. I’m wondering if it’s the transmission itself or possibly some joint between the transmission and the rear axle. Does anyone know of any common Camaro problems of the 93-96 models that might be the cause?
I know how to drive/shift a manual transmission. This is the fourth manual transmission vehicle I’ve had so I know how to shift different ones. I even know how to shift manuals with a high and low switch for each gear. A manual transmission is pretty much all I have ever driven.

This happens after I have fully released the clutch. It also will tend to do it if say I’m driving 2-3 mile an hour and I just give it some gas kinda quick and let off the accelerator a bit. I’ll tend to notice it when I hit the gas and when I let off the gas.

It acts like there is slop or something is loose.

A: Sounds like a bad motor mount.

Q: What gears are in a stock 1995 z28 automatic camaro?
i was wondering what gears were in a stock 1995 camaro z28 with an automatic transmisson

A: i wouldn’t know… sorry

Q: Best Car Speakers for the money a 1995 Camaro? Any recommendations?
Have a 1995 Camaro, any recommended speakers for it? Sub woofers amps.. etc, I don’t want insane bass where you cant even here what you are listening to. Just great quality with a good kick. Suggestions would be great!

A: Polk audio makes the best speakers for the $. I would put a 4ohm L5 kicker sub in there in a ported box ,10″ or 12″ with say a 450w 2ohm stable amp.Depending on what type of music you like.Bigger sub = bigger amp =more $.Make sure you only have the four speaker system in your ride otherwise you are looking at big bucks to bypass the factory amp.

Q: How to remove DelcoBose stereo system in 1995 Chevy Camaro?
I just got a 1995 Chevy Camaro and it has the DelcoBose system in it and an aftermarket head unit. It works okay but I want to replace the entire thing. I hear that it’s pretty annoying to work with, so how can I remove everything extra so I just have the head unit and the wires and mounting locations for the 4 speakers. I will add an amplifier too so I want to remove any sound processors or anything else not needed for an aftermarket system as well. Thanks!

A: See if this helps.

Q: whats it take 2 put a a carburated 350 in a 1995 camaro?
i got a 1995 chevy camaro that im wantin 2 put a carburatesd small block 350 in. what the fastest way to do this and what kinda distribature do i use ect?????

A: This site has the best info on Camaro engine swaps. It will give you some things to read and you can post questions. The people are quite knowledgeable and helpful. Emissions is something to consider if you are wanting it to be street driven. Off road vehicles do not have the same regulations. Dedicated race cars are considered off road vehicles.

Q: what is the stock hp for a 1995 camaro?
hello i am going to be buying a new car soon and i like the camaro and i was wondering what the stock hp for a 1995 camaro. i need somthing with food power but i dont like the for mustangs. eny thing 2 door and with 180hp or more and inder 8 grand. thanks

and i would like it to be in the 1982 to 2000.

A: 3,350 cc 3.4 liters 6 V front longitudinal engine with 92 mm bore, 84 mm stroke, 9 compression ratio, overhead valve and two valves per cylinder
Power: SAE and 119 kW , 160 HP @ 4,600 rpm; 200 ft lb , 271 Nm @ 3,600 rpm

Q: One of my Cylinders has a misfire in 1995 z28 camaro?
My 1995 Z28 camaro seems to have a misfire. What could it be a wire, plug, something bigger?

A: try changing plugs and wires. not a big expense and the cost will be offset by better gas mileage over the long run. If that does not cure the miss, run a compression check on all cyls. write down the numbers and compare… if one is very low, you have valve problems. and that isn’t good. Hope the best for ya.

Q: About how much would a motor cost for a 1995 Camaro?
My younger brother is looking to buy a car. The one is is looking at is a 95 camaro and the guys said that it might need a new motor soon. He is asking 1000 for the car, and said the motor would cost about 300-500. Is this true? Do you think its a good deal?

A: well hes not lieing if you want to buy a honda motor, and put it in there. ls1s are generally in the 3k range maybe 2k if your lucky, and then you still have to put it in. and its ture camaros are not hard to find at all just keep an eye out for the right one

Q: 1994 camaro?
have a 1994 camaro with a flowmaster on the back, what can i be putting on this thing to make it go/sound/look awsome

A: you could try some of those LED lights on the tip,

Q: 1994 Camaro?
ok so i bought a 1994 camaro and it is already set up for a carburated motor. the guy before me had a 350 in it. Im putting a 305 in it with a turbo 400. Would the car be really fast? Do you think it would beat a 3.8L V6 supercharged car? Say the Buick Riviera supercharged?

A: 305 is more like what you want people to THINK you have in a drag race. I would go with a Chevy 383 Small Block, than turbocharge/supercharge that sucker(whichever you prefer)

Q: How much would a 1994 Camaro z28 be to insure for a 18 year old?
I am 18 and my friend is willing to give me a good deal on his 1994 Camaro z28. I have had my license since i was 16 and have had no tickets, accidents, or anything of that sort. I have a good driving record. I live in Michigan and i was wondering how much around would i be looking at for insurance? I only want PLPD since i can fix them myself.

A: A lot. Young male with a fast car means your insurance will be very high.

Q: How much does it cost to insure a new driver driving a 1994 Camaro?
I’m thinking about buying a 1994 Camaro for $3995. I’m a new 16 year old driver. How much is it going to cost to insure this car?

A: I recommend you this site where you can compare quotes so you can find the best option for you

http://qinsurance.notlong.com

Q: 1994 Camaro will not start once it is warm?
I have a 1994 Camaro Z28 that was running rough at one point then I corrected that, now I have this problem that if the car is cold it will run and run fine then as soon at it gets warm and I stop it will not restart. It will not restart until the next morning which means it takes along time for it to cool down. All things have been changed such as the basics, starter coil, plugs, caps etc. I am lost for what this maybe. I am in college and really need this car to run to go to work

A: check the fuel system and the vacuum lines.

Q: Where can I find a 383 stroker for my 1994 Camaro?
I have a 1994 Camaro that is already set up for the engine. I have a TH400 with it too. Anyone know where I can find either a 350 or 383 stroker engine?

A: Here’s the 100 dollar question – are you rebuilding it to LT1 specs, or is this going to be a Gen I 383? I was going to go this way when I replaced the motor in my ‘95 (just did it two weeks ago), and decent 383 LT1’s are getting to be both a little scarce and a little pricey. Being that you have a TH400, I’m assuming you’re going “old school”. If so, you can’t go wrong with Scoggin Dickey or Jeg’s/Summit (although the latter two seem to be a little pricier). A good start is the 383 with the vortecs.
If you have your LT1 and its in decent shape, you may find its cheaper to shoot for a 383 rebuild on the stock block, if you can find a good performance shop.
I ended up going with a stock 350 LT1 long block from Jasper. It was 2700 bucks pan to intake, but the good news is its a 3yr 100k warranty on the engine.
Oh, by the way, I totally recommend the BBK headers, if you haven’t already sprung for them. They bolted in without a single hitch, with only a 5″ chuck sawed off the pre-cat pipe to slip fit them, and I had to remove the plastic off of the steering shaft to keep it from melting.

Q: Where can I find digital gauges for a 1994 Camaro?
I’m trying to find a set of digital gages like the ones from Fast and Furious for a 1994 camaro. Do they make them for that year and if they do where can i find them?

A: Try Dakota Digital.

Q: 1994 camaro?
my third brake light works when i touch the brakes but the lower brake lights do i have change all the blubs but no lower brake lights what so ever

A: I own a shop, and think you must have a loose connection in the wires at the back of the vehicle, or you have blown bulbs. It may also be as simple as the ground wire (that comes from the brake lights) is not getting a ground to the frame. You may have to remove the wire, clean it good with a wire brush, add some grease, and attach it back, before the lights work again. Test the bulbs with a battery to see that they are good, and the sockets where they go must also be corrosion free, and making good contact. On the side of the connectors you will see the ground, clean this, and the hole where it goes with fine grit sandpaper, and add a small amount of lithium grease to keep the corrosion down.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

Q: is it possible to put true dual exhaust on a 1994 camaro z28?
I was told by the guy that does my exhaust told me that you cant put true dual exhaust on a 1994 camaro because of the rear axle. So if anybody knows whether you can do this or not let me know because I think it is possible.

A: Yes you can, but routing the exhaust is a pain in the ass. You will need to find a custom exhaust/speed shop cause norm exhaust shops can’t/won’t get it right

You can fit dual 2.25″ over the rear axle, of if you want larger you have a couple of options. You can get a upper panhard bar reloction bracket to move the upper bar,

Or you can just stop the pipes before the rear axle and use turn downs on them.

Now of my third gen (1988 camaro) I run larger rear tires and stiff springs for drag use so my rear is high enough I ran my dual pipes under the rear axle.

Q: Will rims off a 1985 or so Corvette fit on a 1994 Camaro z28?
I was wondering if rims off a 1985 Corvette fit on a 1994 Camaro z28?

A: Neither of the above answers will help you much.
Not all Chevy 5-bolt wheels have the same spacing.

The number of lugs is important. I’d like to see responder number two try to mount a six lug wheel on a 5 lug hub.

To determine if the rims fit (since both are 5 lug patterns) you have to measure between lug #1 and #3. That is how spacing is determined. If your hub and the rim have the same measurement the wheels will fit.

An easier way is to just call your local tire shop and they will tell you for free.

Q: How long does a 1994 Chevy Camaro last on average?
I’m wondering about how many miles will a 1994 Chevy Camaro last? Not based on how it is maintained, just on average how long do they last?

A: There are two engines available on it, a V6 and a V8
The V8 is generally considered to be more reliable (about 140000 vs 120000 miles) is average, but with GM it’s a crapshoot: either really good or really crappy car

yeah average 140000 but standard deviation is like 200000!!!!!!

Q: How many motor and tranny mounts does a 1994 v6 Camaro have?
Can anybody tell me how many engine mounts a 1994 v6 camaro has. Also how many tranny mounts? If you ever had to replace them, what was the cost?

A: it has two motor mounts there about $20 a Peace they have one trans mount $30 but it has a stabilizer that goes from trans to rear end not sure how much it cost

Q: How much would it cost to paint a 1994 chevy camaro?
im looking to buy a 1994 Chevy Camaro and its a mahogany reddish color, a color that i really do not like, and im looking to go to a Maaco and buying a new paint job. and i was just wondering how much it would cost me.

A: That depends on how much paint you want, how much you want painted (the engine compartment and sheet metal underneath the interior will still be that ugly red), how many layers it’ll take/you’ll want, and of course, the main killer, labor.
Plus, you’ll want a quality paint job, otherwise you’ll regret it. If you go to Maaco and get a cheezy $500 paint job, it’ll show. The paint might be cloudy, body parts might not match, there could be bubbles in the paint, etc.
If you want a high-quality paint job, you’ll have to shoot for the 4-figure area.

In the end, it would be better to look for another ‘94 Camaro. You could at least get a color you like if you keep looking, and God knows there’s tons of them out there if you look.
I suggest going to http://www.craigslist.com or http://www.autotrader.com (both sites I used when I was looking for my ‘98 Camaro). If you live in the OC area of California, you can also check out the Recycler. Some good cars go through there.
Never settle for less than the best, even if you have to look for a while. I spent two months looking for my Camaro, and my dad spent 6 months looking for his.

Q: Better mileage in my 1994 v6 camaro automatic?
I want to know how to get better mileage in my 1994 v6 camaro automatic. I have been driving slow have the tires pumped all the way. Ive been thinking about new intake and exhaust, but does that work. Little help please.

A: I own a ‘95 Z28 v8 Camaro and i improved my milage for under $300 from aprox. 18mpg to nearly 25mpg.

Check it out.

I swapped my stock intake for a $245 cold air intake….
Replaced Air, oil, and fuel filters… ($40 if you do the work yourself)
And now i run premium or plus whenever i can and add a fuel line cleaner about once ever three months with my oil change. Try it it may work for you too.

Q: how to program a factory keyless remote on a 1993 z28 camaro?
my question is i have one keyless entry remote from a 1995 z28 camaro i used to have. i now have a 1993 z28 camaro and was wandering if this remote from the 1995 camaro would work with the 1993 camaro. if so how do the you program the remote.

A: Special equipment is to be connected to the vehicle for re-programing.

Q: 1993 Camaro wont start no fuel pressure?
Its a 1993 camaro v6 It ran great yesterday and today it would not run. It started, but bogged out after a couple seconds and now it wont start at all. I checked the pressure release valve for the fuel and theres no pressure. Is there anything else I could check before I have to pull the gas tank out?

A: You don’t always have pressure in the fuel lines until you turn the key on and in some cases the engine needs to be spinning over. That’s the way it usually happens ,you drive the car home and everything is working great , then you get in it the next morningjust to find out it wont start . I’m sure that is going to be your fuel pump that’s bad, but check your fuel filter to make sure it’s not clogged up , also check the fuel pump relay to make sure it’s working, you might have to find the fuse box that’s under the hood to find the fuel pump relay.

Q: 1993 Camaro?
Its not a Z28 but its a V8 with 380 HP.
The body is very clean but w/ a little paint issues.
The interior is perfect w/ a minor scratch.
Do you think its worth the price.

3000$
Its a automatic Tranny
But im 17 and insuarance will be around 150 bc im a teenager and what not so take stuff like that into factor.
150,000 miles
Automatic
Its a V8 LT so that gives it more HP than a regular V8.
Take my age of 17 intyo account and the insuarance

A: If it runs great and looks good, then yeah. I sold my 93 V6 Camaro 2 years ago for $2700. And it did not run great!! It had some chipped paint on the front bumper. The driver seat was ripped. But is sure was beautiful!!! I’d still have it, if it ran good. But i bought it from a teenage boy, and let’s say he didn’t treat it right. So if you do buy it, don’t ruin it!! Treat it good and take care of it.

Insurance for teenage boys is going to be higher no matter what you buy, and a little more since your wanting a sports car. Since your going to be paying more money anyways, drive what you want to!

Q: What is the difference between a 1993-02 Camaro SS or Z28?
What is the difference between the 1993-02 Camaro SS or Z28? Which model trim is higher between the SS or the Z28? I believe the RS is the base model with the V6 engine and the SS and the Z28 comes with the V8 engines.

I have a friend who used to own a 1997 Camaro SS V8 w/leather interior.

A: Camaro – base model which comes with a Series II 3800 3.8L V6 engine rated at 200 HP. Prior to 1996, the standard engine was a 3.4L V6 with 160 HP with the 3.8L being an option in mid-1995. A 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic (4L60E) transmission is available. A performance package (Y87) is also available starting in 1996 which includes a posi rear, rear disc brakes, 3.42 gearing in the A4, exhaust pipes/tips on both sides, and sport steering ratio.

RS – appearance package available starting in 1996 for the base Camaro (V6) only. It includes ground effects and an up-level spoiler. “RS” badges are located on the front fenders and rear passenger bumper. In 1998 the RS was dropped, however the appearance package was still available as an option.

Z28 – The high end model. From 1993 – 1995 it came with a 275HP 5.7L V8 (LT1) engine. In 1996 power was increased to 285HP by going to a 2 catalytic converter setup. In 1998 the Z28 went to the all new LS1 which was rated at 305 HP and 335 ft-lbs of torque. A black roof treatment was standard on all 1993 and 1994 Z28s, and 1995 models and later offered a roof that was the same color as the rest of the body as an option. A 6-speed (Borg-Warner T-56) or 4-speed automatic (4L60E) transmission is available. The suspension and brakes are enhanced for improved handling. Two available Preferred Equipment Groups make the car either moderately or fully loaded. “Z28″ badges are located on the front fenders and rear passenger bumper. In 1993, an Indy 500 Pace Car version (with automatic transmission) was made with a black and white paint scheme and multi-colored paint stripes along each side of the car.

SS – available as an upgrade to the Z28 model starting in late-1995 (as a 1996 model). The package include a functional ram air hood scoop and reworked exhaust manifolds resulting in 305 HP and 335 ft-lbs of torque. An optional freer flowing exhaust system brings HP to 315 and torque to 342 ft-lbs. In 1998 with the introduction of the LS1 engine, power was boosted to 320HP, and with the optional SLP exhaust power was boosted to 327HP. The stock wheels and tires are replaced with 5-spoke 17″ ZR-1 style wheels with 275/40ZR/17 tires. Hurst shifter and Torsen differential were available options. Bilstein shocks, stiffer rate springs/bushings, and a larger front sway bar make up the optional Level-II suspension. The stock spoiler is replaced with sleeker looking one. “SS” badges replace the “Z28″ badges on the front fenders and rear passenger bumper. All cars were shipped as stock Z28s to Street Legal Performance (SLP) Engineering where the above modifications were made through 1997. After that, GM made the modifications on its own assembly line.

SS/LT4 – available only in 1997 with all of the standard and optional SS equipment, but the LT1 was replaced by a balanced and blueprinted LT4 engine with 330 HP. Additionally, they got a new stainless steel exhaust system and exhaust manifolds, and a new Bilstein performance suspension set-up. The cars had to be special ordered as 30th Anniversary cars with a 6-speed transmission, and no T-tops or convertible, and they were then sent to SLP for modification. Production was limited to 100 cars.

Q: Will a Chevy 350 small block crate engine fit in a 1993-2003 camaro z28?
I would like to know if a chevy 350 crate would fit in a camaro z28 any years from 1993-2003 and if so which years. What modifications/plug and play harness would be needed?

A: the camaro was only made until 2002, and it will fit in all of them. the engine bay is the same from 1993-1997 and from 1998-2002 it is the same also. you might need different motor mounts and special kits to put one into a 1993-1997, and you will almost definately need them for the later years. if you are replacing an engine, might i suggest just trying to find another camaro to pull the engine from?

Q: How do i fix my 1993 Chevy Camaro?
I have a 1993 Chevy Camaro (5-speed, 3.4L V6) and the 5th gear doesnt work. Im pretty sure it is the synchronizer. I wanted to know if anyone knew how much i would cost to fix this problem? any help would be greatly appreciated.

A: I build cars and have the 92 Camaro 5 speed. I asked 2 of my friends who specialize in transmissions to put a 3rd gear sinc in for me and they both rolled their eyes. seems the 5 speed is a bit of a mess to fix. I looked at prices to buy a rebuild kit and it cost more(at my discounted price) than a 700R4 auto. Go figure. sorry

Q: I have a 1993 camaro that keeps overheating?
I took off the thermostat and it ran better for about 4 days now it’s overheating again. There is no fluid leaking from underneath the car my radiator fan is working and there is plenty of anti freeze in the car. Any ideas what might be wrong? I can’t afford a mechanic.
Oh and the radiator has been flushed also and the oil level is good

A: Coul be a defective water pump. with the engine running, put some clean newspaper under car and with a strong flashlight see if you can see coolant weeping out of the weep hole of the water pump. If so , the water pump seal is shot. When you flushed cooling system, did you put back in the proper amount of 50/50 or 60/40 antifreeze and distilled water? Is there a bleed valve on the thermostat housing or elsewhere? some cars need to have the front of car jacked up- that way you get out any trapped air pockets and let car down and fill with coolant till radiator is full (or coolant runs out of bleed valve if it has one.- then fill recovery tank to proper level. if you can’t find the water pump, ask a friend or follow one of the heater hoses. You then might have to borrow some money and get radiator and cap tested by a garage. Don’t forget to throw in a quality themostat back in engine. Modern electronic engine controls require a t-stat of the proper temp. rating. Get a Haynes manual to start of with-best $16 you will spend.

Q: I have a 1993 camaro that screeches as soon as I turn engine on?
I was told that it could either be a bad fan belt, pulley tensioner, bad water pump, alternator, power steering pump?

A: Could be all of the aboveor none, may be just a loose belt. easy enough to check. You don’t say what engine is in your Camaro. V8 or V6, does it have multiple belts or a Serpentine belt. Could be the belt is loose, if multiple belts check all the tensions of the belts to see if you can find one thats loose. if Serpentine, you may have a bad tensioner, in which case, you’ll need a new one and I would change the belt also.

Q: What heads are the best for a 1993 camaro z28 lt1?
I want to know what heads will make my car the fastest for the quarter mile, i heard that afr heads are the best and will make my car the fastest, is this true?? Money is not a problem I just want to know what is the best and then i will go from there, please tell me what other heads are good and list them best to worst. THANKS

A: DART heads are the best but heads alone wont make your car fast just make sure you have the right cam and lifter springs

Q: Where can I get a cheap 1993 Chevrolet Camaro Body Kit? ?
I just got a new red 1993 chevy camaro and would like to get a body kit to make it look cool. where can i get a cheap one online?
I would also like one to have the front bumper, rear bumper and 2 side skirts (standard) also if you could make it around $200 Dollars maybe thats pushing it, just find me something cheap.

A: Rk Sport. Or you could always browse some camaro forums for a used one. My bet…You can’t afford a new one, because painting it will cost too much for you, and we really don’t need another car on the road with a primer body kit.

Q: What transmissions will fit a 1993 Camaro V6 3.4L?
I recently ran into problems with my transmission slipping, and now it will not go into drive. I figured it was probably time to find a new transmission, but I am not sure if I can only use a transmission from a Camaro, or will any other car work? Please help me, and if you know of a used one for sale, please contact me =)
Thanks
It is a 4L60E.

A: If your looking for a new trans you might wanna check out craigslist.org and see what you can find.
But the major problem with that is most ppl sell theres because it’s in horrible condition soo you’d be better off finding a local trans shop like LeeMyles and bringing it there.

Q: What is another name for a 700R transmission on a 1993 chevy camaro?
Trying to buy a shift kit, but I want to make sure I buy a comaptible one.

A: The 700r4 was in 3rd gen F-bodies…from 1983-1992…93 and up is a 4L60E trans.

To the thumb downer idiot…The 700r4 and the 4L60E are basically identical when it comes to clutches/bands/servos, but are entirely different electronically. They are not one in the same. There was no 700r4 or 4L60 in a 4th gen F-body…4L60E only for automatics.

“# 700R4’s/4L60 – 4 speed automatics from 84 to 92 models. GM changed their name from 700R4 to 4L60 in the late 80’s/early 90’s. With their 3.06 1st gear, and a .72 4th gear, these transmissions are great for use with 3.73 or higher geared rear ends. Easy for aftermarket installs, and easy on your wallet too. All 700R4’s use a TV (Throttle Valve) cable and a lock-up converter (84-92 use 4-wire connector). All 89 and earlier Camaros & 85 and earlier Firebirds use a mechanical speedometer drive unit, while all other 3rd gens use an electric speedometer drive unit. The speedometer drive units can easily be swapped. These transmissions use plastic gears to calculate the speedometer speed. See below

# 4L60E’s – Computer (Electronic) controlled 4 speed automatics, for 93 and later models. These transmissions require a computer for downshifting and up shifting. You can identify the difference by a round connector for the electronics and no cable. All 94 and later transmissions use a magnetic pickup speedometer drive unit. A reluctor gear is pressed onto the tailshaft. The PCM then converts the signal to a speed. The PCM is programmed with the vehicles gear ratio, so a rear swap mandates reprogramming the PCM for accurate readings.”

Q: can anyone tell me how difficult a auto to manual tranny swap is on a 1993 camaro?

A: Needed:

wiring harness

ecu

clutch pedal assembly

brake pedal assembly

clutch hydro system

manual transmission

clutch & flywheel

tail shaft

driveshaft

about 6 hours book time just for the trans re & re.

Q: What kind of transmission does a 1993 z28 chevrolet camaro have?
My camaro needs a new transmission, and I was wondering what kind they have?

and if anyone knows any tips on finding a cheap one, that would be awesome. I don’t want to stick a lot of money into a car I’m just going to sell.

thanks!

A: 1993 camaro has the metric th700r4 with lockup torque converter and the f body specific tail shaft with the bosses for the torque arm between the tranny and rear end/differential
if you have a v6 you can use any tranny from 93-96 if you have the lt1 you will need the v8 version form 93-98

Q: How do you change the head gasket on a 1993 Camaro 3.2 V6.?
I think my car has a blown head gasket. Is it possible to fix it myself or how much is this goin to cost me? For parts and labor?

A: If you are going to do it yourself the first thing for you to do is to get yourself a Haynes or Chilton Repair Manual for the year and type of vehicle that you have. The process can be little more involved and costly then what you are prepared for. I was and still am in the same situation with my 1994 ford F150 pickup truck. If you do the repair yourself you will gain valuable knowledge of motor vehicle repair. If you have a mechanic do it they will charge you between $900. (on the low end) to $1800. or more (on the high end), but around that price range. You might just consider getting for yourself another vehicle that is a little bit newer and with less miles on it. P.S. The very best thing that you can do for any vehicle is to keep all of the fluids checked and changed especially the oil, keep the oil changed every 2,500 to 3,000 miles that you drive, use a quality grade oil and make sure that you are using the right grade. I can explain to you in detail why keeping the oil changed is so important and what grades mean (ex: 5W30) if you want. or you can just take my word for it.
