Q: Is it hard to put a engine back in a 1992 camaro?
my dad is thinking about purchasing a 1992 camaro and the owners took the original v6 out and i am going to put it back in i have put a v8 from one vehicle to another but i want to know on this car will it be hard to put the engine that was pulled out back in the car.
A: A V6 will be much easier with plenty of room to move around inthe engine compartment. The only hard part would be to mate the block to the tranny.
Q: Does the 1992 camaro z28 have sufficient power ?
I was wanting to purchase a 1992 camaro but I’ve heard that it lacked acceleration and/or top speed. I was just wondering if it would be best to go with the 93 although i like the body of the 92.
A: It has sufficient power for day to day, but it is a far cry from being menacing on the streets today or even at the track. I agree with your comment about the body style though. I never really liked the looks of the 93-02 Camaros, but the power-trains and body rigidity were much better especially with it getting the LS1 in 98. I guess you will need to figure out what your ultimate plans on and go from there.
GTA_Tony, I was laughing at your post because I agreed with it about the first posters comment.

Q: Do you prefer black or white racing stripes on a red 1992 Camaro?
I am buying a 1992 Camaro 25th addition. It is in mint condition. It came from florida so the red car is now pink. It has lost all its color. But that is ok my brother paints cars. Its going back to red but not to bright. The problem i am having is that i am putting racing stripes down the center of it and i can’t decide if i would rather have white or black. i am scared that the white might be to much. I need opinions please. Can’t wait i love being a car girl……
A: Neither, leave it all red.
Q: What is the STOCK temperature for the 1992 Camaro thermostat?
I’ve got a L03 305ci TBI engine, need to replace the Thermostat, need to know the correct OEM temperature for it.
A: 190 – 195 degrees…
Q: How you turn on the brights in a 1992 Camaro RS?
Just bought the darn thing. Asked about the lights figured brights would be turned on by the light knob. So how do you turn them on? I am hoping its not broken.
haha, nah I am not new to driving. my steering column is pretty messed up. So I have to pull down on it then pull forward to turn on the brights.
A: Try moving the turn signal stalk forward.
Q: what would be the best muffler and exhaust to put on my 1992 camaro 5speed v6?
I need to get a muffler but not sure what to get and i also need to get a new exhaust and also not sure what to get. I need these both because there is a hole in one of them so i just want to replace the whole thing. i want it to sound deep but not cheesy. please help i have put posts b4 but noone has yet to reply.
i need your help!
A: Well if you want the deep sound im not to familiar with the Mufflers im kind of new but i just bought a flowmaster an it was suppose to be deep sound. but my opinion i dont really hear it until i rev it. but witch i hear magnaflow make a deep sound. but i also hear that the headers an a intake would help for the sound of the muffler. but is your option on witch one you one.
Q: Was the 1992 Camaro RS 25th anniversary edition built for speed?
Its in nice condition but its not that fast and we came to the conclusion that its a cruising car and not a speed car. Is this true?
A: No, speed and the 305TBI motor should never, EVER be used in the same sentence, lol.
Q: What kind of setup would i need for the rearend of a 1992 Camaro?
i’m going to be ordering a whole new rearend to handle the new engine but i know nothing about them and need to know what the best choice is and where i can get it from. it needs to handle at least 600 ft/lbs of torque and 625 hp… this is a street car so i would like it to last a while
A: Ok for the real answer.. (I’m going through this my self)
On the third gens, the rear ends are junk, weak, etc. I broke two stock ones just running 11’s in the 1/4 mile, with 1.60′ 60 times.
If your keeping stock style suspension under your car, then you need a rear end housing that has mounts for the torque arm.
You need a ford 9″ rear or chevy 12 bolt rear to handle the power.
Places to look would be Moser, strange, currie.
You have to know what you want though.
You can buy the rear end full and almost ready to run for $2300 or so.. Then you will still need a rear brake system.. Stock third gen drum brakes will not work.
Now what I’m doing is, I bought a ford 9″ third member with a detroit locker and 3.89 gears from valley custom diff. off ebay for $735 shipped (cheaper if you get a limited slip *posi* unit, but I need the locker)
Then I’m buying a Moser 9″ housing and axle package from moser for $985 .
Modd’ing second gen F body brake backing plates to fit over the ford housing ends, and use stock second gen drum brakes on it.
For me this is the best and cheapest way to go.
If you have the money (which I don’t) buying a ready to go ford 9″ from Moser for $2300 would be the best route for you.
Then using third gen rear disk brakes, or 4th gen rear disk brakes (pick up the rear disk system from a junk yard or ebay)
Q: How to remove a 1982 thru 1992 camaro door?

A: on the door hinges there are 2 one at the top one at the bottom each has 3 blots that them out And have a friend help you the door is HEAVY you can get hurt real bad.
Q: Please help, Can I put a Flowmater Super 40 or 44 on a 1992 Camaro without any special modifications?
What kind of performance muffler would make a 305 TBI sounds the meanest?
I know the flowmaster 80 series will fit…the question is will a 40 or 44 fit with out modification……
A: Yes flowmaster has a muffler that will fit your 1992 camaro. The deepest sounding street muffler is the super 44.All the super 44 mufflers ive driven on my customers camaros sound really good. The super 44 is the most aggressive muffler flowmaster has ever built.Best of luck. http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/products/index.php?main_page=index
Q: How does a 1983-1992 Camaro do in winter?
I am looking to buy a camaro, but it would be a full time car and since i live in winter I need to know how it drives in winter, did you have to buy snow tires, or did it do just fine?
A: To be honest the car sucks on ice and snow. It wasn’t design for all weather driving. Dry weather, it’s a sports car. Issue is this car is light in the rear, and if you plan to buy a V8 the car torque and power will almost make it impossible to get traction. Keep in mind the third gen camaro didn’t come with traction control.
I had much better luck in my vette than my camaros in bad weather due to the traction control.
Good Luck
Q: how do you install an a/c compressor bypass pulley on a 1992 Camaro?
My car is making a loud rubbing/scraping noise under the hood by the belt, and i was smelling burnt rubber. Took it to a shop and they told me the ac compressor and clutch is falling apart. So long story short the easier cheaper fix is to get the ac bypass pulley and i was curious how they are installed.
A: Remove the compressor and install the pulley with the bracket. It is pretty straight forward and the kit should come with instructions.
Q: How much would an engine cost for a 1992 camaro rs?

Don’t get too discouraged. At least you have a car that is easy to find parts for, and normally they are pretty cheap. Another option is to get an engine from a place like Auto Zone, Advance, or any decent auto parts store. Prices are usually pretty reasonable and you get a warranty.
Q: How do you bypass the security relay on a 1992 Camaro RS?
No! im not tryn to still it! ist’s mine! i need to know haoe to bypass the Security relay so i can get it to crank!
A: You will need to find out what the resistance of the pellet in the ignition key is, then cut the 2 wires that come from the ignition lock cyl and connect the resistor on the vehicle side of the wiring…or just buy a new ignition lock cyl as that is what’s most likely wrong. The 2 small wires from the lock cyl break and prevent the engine from cranking.
There is a small chance that just the key is bad…try another key if you have one. The dealer has a tool that will read a code # from the key. If the tool reads the code OK, then the key is fine.
