Q: Can a GMC 454 big block engine fit in a 1975 Camaro?
I was just wandering, I have a 454 bb from a 1973 GMC 3500 and am wandering if it will fit in a 1975 Camaro that I believe used to have a 350 or 305? if not, could you tell me about how much it would cost to put the engine in?
A: Yes it can, & it should!!!
Q: what is the weight distribution of a 1975 camaro?

Q: thinking of buying a 1975 camaro what do you think?
ok so there is this guy selling a 1975 camaro for 1,00 bucks he said engine is like new and so is the transmission, its only had 1 owner.
What questions should I ask in addition to that information? Are old camaros safe? What usual problems come with camaros?
Does anyone know how much it would cost to start restoring it?
A: An old car is never “safe.” But that doesn’t mean they can’t be fun! I wouldn’t buy it without having another means of transportation (at least until you “learn” the Camaro and how it acts). You can get almost any part for that car in the aftermarket, so you should be ok as long as the car isn’t a rust bucket. You don’t say what needs to be restored, it probably won’t be cheap but it will be worth it if you plan on keeping it for a while. Go to Yearone.com to find parts. JCwhitney.com may have parts, too. Do a “yahoo” search for camaro replacement parts, you will be surprised. Good luck and have a blast fixing the car!
Q: when I start my older car (1975 camaro with a 350) a blue colored smoke comes from the tail pipe.?
This also happens when revving the motor, and in park.what could cause this>???? The smoke is bluesiest white.
I bought the car last Sunday for a project, for me and my son. He is also attending a vo-tech school in the fall for auto repair. The lady I bought it from told me that it goes through 2 quarts of oil every month. I know it has alot of leaks. Thank you for all of your answers.
A: Im sure you have some wear and tear in the engine, you can add a heavier oil, or try castrol high mileage and add a quart of lucas oil stabilizer, this will actually help boost the oil pressure some and may help the engine burn less oil. a puff of smoke when you first start up, is usually a sign of worn valve guides, this is common on a 350 and nothing to worry about unless its excessive. blue smoke is oil burning, when you see it when you rev the car in park usually what you see is you go vrooom and then a second later the oil gets sucked past the rings and you see it out the tailpipe. It is sign of old age on a 350, honestly, 20 50 and a quart of lucas would probably help some and the key here is any chevy 350 will run for a long time as long as you keep oil IN THE MOTOR you could get plenty of miles out of it. Lucas oil stabilizer is kind of spendy, but it works good, and a lot better than any other crap out there. Some auto parts stores, and the wal mart near where I live carry a gallon jug, which is cheaper than the quart one. And you can call the auto parts stores in your area ahead of time, and find out who carries the gallon jug.
Q: I need help removing the heater core from my 1975 Camaro!?
Can anyone please give me detailed instructions on how to get the heater core out of my Camaro. I really don’t wanna take it to the shop to have it done. Please help!
A: Remove the glove box and look for it against the firewall. It should be connected to rotten heater hoses leading outside into the engine area. Put on gloves to protect your knuckles.
Q: how do you install a cd player in a 1975 camaro?
how do i take apart the dash to get the new cd player in
A: That is a huge job – check with crutchfield to see if they have install guides – they do for newer cars, not sure how far back they go.
Q: How much is a 1975 Chevy Camaro worth?
I found this car for sale, and was wondering if its even worth what hes asking for it. It has two small dents, but is primered and ready for paint. it does have custom wheels, but im not sure how old. Interior is fine and it has a 350 V8 motor in it, and it runs great. It is a stick-shift. He is asking $1800 for it.
A: The early to mid 70’s Camaro were prone to rust underneath, and that included where the rear springs mounted. Laying on your back, slide in from behind the car. You need to check the area in front of the gas tank, just above the rearend housing. If there is no damage there, most likely the car would be worth investing money into, if the rest of the body isn’t bad. You can practically buy any part the car may need. I’ve bought these cars as cheap as $500 and as high as $3000. Some sell for much more. But if the car is driveable, and doesn’t have much underbody rust, drives straight, and has a decent motor I would pay that much for one. But like the others said, offer $1200 or so cash, then go up from there. He may take less than asking price.
Q: is it possible to put a 1973 camaro front end on a 1975 camaro?
because they both look like they have the same body except for the back end
A: yes it is.
Q: What should I name my 1975 Camaro?
It is flat black with a dark red interior, basically a rat rod.
A: I’d go with “Rusty”
Q: I was wondering which is better for my first car? Either I will get a 1975-81 camaro z28 or an 84-92 Iroc-z? $
I want a fast, fun first car. I can either get the above choices or a 82-88 corvette for a little extra cash. Which would be the fastest 0-60 and get the best gas mileage(not a big concern)? Or what other cars are fast used for under 4k$?
A: And how old are you? Fast, fun cars?? That’s exactly what someone needs for a first car. if it were me i would save my money get a cheaper, but nice car at first because 9 times out of 10 kids who get “fast fun cars” as their first car, wrap it around a tree or get it impounded and end up in jail for excessive speed. be smart if you insist on getting a car like this

Q: 4 barrel vs. 2 barrel on 1975 camaro?
I’m looking at buying a 1975 camaro RS, but it has a 2 barrel carb with a 350 small block. I’m just wondering how big of difference a 4 barrel would make? Also, is it going to be gutless with that engine?
Also there is some rust around
the rear left wheel well how much would it cost to fix? And what would you value the car at it’s got about 200 000 km
A: A 4-barrel would help your Camaro out a little, but most mid-70’s cars, even “sports” cars, were pretty gutless. I would yank the ‘75 350 and freshen it up with better heads, a hot cam, and an Edelbrock carb. For under $1,000, you would have a completely different animal.
Q: Does a 1975 Camaro really only produce 145hp?
I’m considering to purchase a 1975 Camaro base model with a Chevy 350 2 barrel carburetor. I’ve been doing some research and I discovered that this particular year was when new emission standards had to be met in the US. According to these statistics I read the 350 2 barrel only puts out 145 bhp, but they said that this was a net power estimate instead of gross. Now I test drove this car and I can tell you it sure doesn’t feel like it only has 145. It feels like it has about 300. The car was peeling out on stop sign turns and I was only tapping the gas. No modifications have been done to this car and it is the smoothest running 350 I have ever seen. Could this just be the hp was measured as net instead of gross? Or what would I have to do to make the 350 perform the way it did in the earlier models of this car?
A: If the engine is entirely stock and the exhaust system is entirely stock, that figure may be accurate. During the 1970’s, car manufacturers started putting heavy duty smog devices on cars to help control air pollution. These devices ended up parasitically draining performance badly. As far as the horsepower estimate of 145, that is probably about right. Torque is higher than that, however. Perhaps the torque is around 275 or 300 lb/ft. This is what gives the Camaro the powerful feel it has to it. You could boost horsepower easily. The Chevy 350 is an excellent motor to modify. You wouldn’t really even need to open up the engine. You could keep the original parts like the 2 barrel carb and the intake, but replace them with high performance aluminum parts like an Edelbrock 4bbl carb and an Edelbrock intake. Just by simply changing to an Edelbrock intake and carb, you will add probably around 30HP easily. It will also increase the torque of the engine. The sky is literally the limit. You could just keep the motor stock (which I recommend for reliability reasons), or you could build it up and make the engine radical. You could build a 383 stroker or a 355 Chevy and have the engine producing 400-500HP or more- but it would be expensive. I recommend just keeping the motor stock and adding a few basic bolt ons. You can also upgrade the stock exhaust with some ceramic coated headers, dual pipes, and high flow mufflers. If you were to add say an Edelbrock intake, a 4bbl high performance carb, and a full high flow exhaust system, the engine would be making more than 200HP easily. Good luck with the Camaro!
Q: where do all the vacuum hoses go on my 1975 camaro?
A: look under the hood there is a decal that shows where they go if it is gone go get a manual next time you take something apart take the time to mark things or take pictures
Q: can you turn a 1975 camaro into a 1970 camaro?
both cars have the same body but just different front end and backend
A: It would cost a fortune to attempt to do this halfway right. The rear is completely different as well as the rear window. The interior on the ‘70 is unique to all camaros. It has different seats, console, and steering wheel. You’d come out cheaper to just sell your ‘75 and buy a ‘70. Good luck!
